Lifestyle – Garden Rescuers

The Garden Rescuers down at Shelley Avenue were over-joyed when they received their plants from Plant A Tree Today Foundation!

Desperate to add a splash of colour to this once dreary space, they quickly got to work to get over 50 plants into the ground. Specifically chosen to attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators, the group planted buddleia, honeysuckle, jasmine, fuscia and lavender alongside some beautiful bedding plants to bring in those summertime vibes. Having also made wildflower seed bombs last week (which surprising had already started sprouting!) these were added to the bug hotel to create  a living roof, creating a VIP suite to the now mini-beast mansion.

The space is already becoming a fantastic community garden and once the pallet planters are installed later next month by Thirteen Housing and the water butts added, every member of the community will be able to access and utilise it for growing local produce and socialising in a safe environment. Amazing work lads!
