Child Dynamix Acquires Rainbow Nursery from Hull CVS

From 1st April 2024, the two early years childcare settings, Rainbow Nursery and Rainbow Preschool, both based in the Avenues area of Hull, will move to a new home of ownership under Child Dynamix.

Hull CVS first acquired Rainbow Nursery in 2012, when the setting was at risk of closure. Recognising the detriment this closure would have on the communities who relied upon it for access to locally based community childcare, Hull CVS took the bold decision to acquire the setting and set to work to ensure this asset to the community remained. Since then, the setting has gone from strength to strength; so much so that Hull CVS opened a second setting, Rainbow Preschool in 2017.

Hull CVS has a long history of providing incubatory support to organisations, and in its history has been instrumental in the start-up of numerous organisations, as well as enabling the longevity of others, in a similar way to Rainbow Nursery.

Helen Grimwood, Chief Executive for Hull CVS says;

“I am immensely proud of what we as a Charity achieved in ensuring the survival of Rainbow in 2012, and since then developing the settings in to much loved and sought after childcare provision in the city. After 12 years of managing these two settings, now feels like the right time for Rainbow to move to a new home that can develop them even further.”

Speaking of the transfer to Child Dynamix, Jonathan Slater, Chair of the Hull CVS Board of Trustees says;

“When the Board of Trustees took this decision, it was hugely important to us that Rainbow went to the right home. One that remained in the charity sector who shared our ethos of delivering top class childcare with a community focus. We therefore couldn’t be happier that Child Dynamix have agreed to acquire the settings from us.”

Naomi Clark, Head of Childcare Services at Child Dynamix says;

“We are delighted to be taking ownership of the Rainbow nurseries and expanding our nursery provision further across the city of Hull. Child Dynamix opened its first nursery in 2001, expanding this provision in 2010 and 2016 working in both the east and west of the city. Adding the Rainbow nurseries to our portfolio is an exciting opportunity to work with the children and families in the wider community and further develop our childcare offer to the people of Hull.”

Moving forwards the settings will be known as Child Dynamix Community Nursery – Rainbow and Child Dynamix Community Nursery – Rainbow Preschool.

All 21 members of staff employed at the settings will have their employment protected and will transfer with the acquisition. The settings will also continue to operate from their existing locations at Sefton House on Salisbury Street, and St Ninians Hall on Chanterlands Avenue.

We hope you join us in our celebration of the partnership approach of two local charities, and our excitement for this new venture.
