Rainbow Preschool – Important Update

Thank you for your interest in Rainbow Preschool. Child Dynamix are responsible for the running of both Rainbow Nursery (at Sefton House) and Rainbow Preschool (next to St Ninians Church). The decision has been made to merge these two sites. Before the end of 2025, Rainbow Preschool will close down as a standalone site and will be absorbed into Rainbow Nursery.

Therefore, Rainbow Preschool is not open for any further enrolments. All new enquiries should be directed to Rainbow Nursery who can take children from 3 months to 5 years.

Children currently at Rainbow Preschool should continue to attend this site as normal. Over the coming months we will be transitioning the Preschool children to Rainbow Nursery. All parents will be individually contacted with an exact timeline of when their child will make this transition.

Whilst we understand that change may be challenging for some children, we ultimately believe that merging the two sites benefits the children’s experience overall. We have a plan in place to transition children back at a pace that suits both them and parents, with minimal disruption. We understand that you may have questions about this process, so please see below for some questions and answers that should clarify some details.

We appreciate your understanding, and we are excited to ensure your children thrive at our now united Rainbow Nursery site!

FAQ

  • No need to transition between Nursery and Preschool. The children will be in the same convenient location up until they are 5 years old and leave to go to school. This brings us in line with all other Child Dynamix nurseries, and provides a simplified and more consistent experience for both children and parents.
  • Hot and nutritious meals will now be available for all children from our onsite cook at Rainbow Nursery, provision that was not possible due to facilities being limited at our Preschool site.
  • One larger, and now unified, staffing team to look after the children.
  • Better usage of funding and resources. By merging the sites, we are halving some of the building costs we had to pay each month. It is our goal to ensure that as much of your nursery fees as possible go towards providing great facilities for your child, and employing amazing staff. Reducing our rent and bills costs helps us do just that.

Yes! Every child at Rainbow Preschool will be moved across to Rainbow House. There is no need to re-apply for a place or fill out any paperwork. All funding and fees will remain the same.

With 3 floors, Sefton House has plenty of room for children. We have an entire floor which is currently vacant, so there is plenty of room for the Preschool children to move in.

We know that many children who currently attend the Preschool will have previously attended the Nursery, so this will be a familiar environment for them to be in. For those children who have only attended the Preschool, other than the building being different, we will be keeping the experience as close as possible to what they are used to. The children they are with, activities available, staff, and routines will all be the same as they were in the Preschool.

Children will have a dedicated space for the preschool children, which we are in the process of renovating. This will be called the Oak Room.

Our current timeline to have all children transitioned to Rainbow Nursery is by the end of 2025. We aim to move children back as smoothly as possible. We can understand that for those who have just moved to the Preschool, moving back to the Nursery so quickly can feel disruptive, so we will ensure those children move back as part of a group together. All parents will receive individual contact about the timeline for when, over the coming two months, their child will move to the Nursery. Within the Preschool we will be discussing this transition with all children as well to help prepare them for this change.

We understand change can be challenging for some children. Our staff are well trained in making sure children feel heard and supported. Children will all be informed before their transition about this change. We will emphasise that they aren’t ‘going back to nursery’, that they are still in Preschool and growing up, but the location of the Preschool is moving. We will keep their routines the same and let them know that life at Preschool will be exactly the same as what they are used to, just in a different place.

Whilst we cannot promise this due to logistical concerns, as much as possible, yes! Reach out to us individually about who your child would like to move with and we will try and arrange putting them in that group to move across. Please note though this requires parents to agree on dates and timings for transitions, hence we cannot always guarantee they will be together immediately. However, by the end of the year, everyone in the Preschool will be at Rainbow Nursery.

Yes! All staff working at Rainbow Preschool will now be working at Rainbow Nursery, so your point of contact will remain the same.
