Our Nursery

Child Dynamix Community Nursery Savoy Road opened in 2010 and is situated in the Ings Centre, within the grounds of Ings shopping centre. This means there is plenty of available parking for when you need to drop off and collect your child. We are also near to East Park, allowing us to extend the children’s learning beyond the confines of the nursery walls.

Our nursery is open-plan, with the kitchen as the focal point. This design means children are able to form relationships with all other children who attend our nursery. This supports their confidence and sense of security and belonging, as they can build relationships and connect with children of different ages.

Key Information

Opening Hours

We are open from 8am – 6pm, Monday to Friday, with an option to take up an Early Bird session from 7.30am (for an additional charge). Our morning session is from 8am until 1pm, whilst our afternoon sessions run from 1pm until 6pm.

Free Early Years Education Funding

There are several schemes for free childcare hours which can be taken in our nursery. Some families are eligible for 15 hours free early education funding for 2 year olds, whilst all children aged 3 and 4 are eligible for 15 hours of free provision for 38 weeks of the year. Additionally, working families with children aged between 9 months and 4 years may be eligible for 30 hours free childcare. Please contact us to find out more.

Facilities

Our nursery has: three rooms, three separate outside garden areas including bug hotel and mud kitchen, laundry, and a professionally equipped kitchen.

Meals

We provide healthy and nutritious meals for all our children and can cater for any food allergies/intolerances. We hold the Healthier Options Award, granted by Hull City Council, for our provision of healthier food choices! We also have a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 out of 5 from the Food Standards Agency.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage and we use ‘What to Expect When’ as a tool to understand your child’s development. Parents keep up to date with how their child is progressing using our Parenta online system.

Stay and Play

We offer a no obligations 'trial' for our nursery, called 'Stay and Play'. You can, subject to availability, bring your child in for a free session in a nursery to make sure it's a good fit for them. This will also give you the chance to look around and ask our staff any questions you need. Make sure to contact us in advance to organise this.

I became inspired to work with children from a young age. Through various volunteering roles I was able to see how children grow, learn, and develop, which developed my interest to pursue this as a career. I first started working for Child Dynamix as a Nursery Officer when the Preston Road site (formerly known as the Janet Genter Community Nursery) opened in 2001. Now with over 20 years’ experience in the childcare industry, I have progressed through a variety of roles and currently hold the position of Head of Childcare Services. I have a BA Degree in Early Years and hold the Early Years Professional status.

My role is very varied and includes responsibility for all childcare projects across the company, including day nurseries and holidays schemes.

I started my career at Child Dynamix as an adult trainee in April 2003, joining the team at Janet Genter Community Nursery, which is now Child Dynamix Community Nursery Preston Road. Before this I served as a mechanic in the Army.

I completed a Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education as an adult trainee and have since completed a BA honours degree in Early Years Policy and Practice. I have also completed my PGDipE in Lifelong Learning (teaching adults), as I am interested in supporting vulnerable adults with their learning and development, as well as enhancing the breadth of knowledge for early year’s practitioners.

I have now worked for Child Dynamix for over 20 years, and progressed on through many positions. I even previously managed our Preston Road Nursery for 11 years, before moving to Savoy Road in February 2021. Seeing children grow and develop from babies, to now seeing some of them as parents themselves, gives me an overwhelming sense of pride.

I have worked for Child Dynamix since October 2016 and have over 10 years’ experience of working with children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years. I began at the Boulevard Nursery when it opened, and I am now based at Savoy Road.

Since starting with Child Dynamix, I have completed my Foundation Degree in Childhood Studies and then continued my development by completing a BA in Early Childhood Education and Care.

I am the appointed SENCO for Savoy Road Nursery and have lots of experience working with children with Special Educational Needs. I keep up to date with SENCO training and like to know how best to support our SEND children.

When I was younger my career aspirations were different – I wanted to be a nurse. That was until I completed my work placement at my former primary school. I changed my mind within half an hour – from then on I wanted to work with children! My aim was to be a teacher in a primary school but the more time I have spent in private day nurseries, the more I wanted to help younger children.

I started working for Child Dynamix in March 2020 during the COVID pandemic! This was a very difficult time to start a new job. However, with the amazing support of the team around me, we all came through it stronger than ever. In March 2024 I was given the opportunity to take on a senior role at Savoy. This role has helped me build my confidence with my team, and learn more about supporting families.

I chose to work in childcare because I was inspired by one of my family members. I like to help children: watch them grow and develop for their next adventure of school. It’s rewarding being the person who helps children to achieve and meet their milestones in life. Each day I try to reflect upon how I have helped a child or their family

I’m lucky to work with some fantastic people and I wouldn’t change a thing! Everyone in the team is always willing to help and support each other.

I began my journey at Child Dynamix in March 2012 as a supply member of staff, before I was offered a permanent role as a Nursery Practitioner a few months later.

In September 2023 I was given the chance to take on a new role and I became a Senior Practitioner for the setting. This role has helped me build my confidence and has given me the opportunity to take on further training and develop new skills.

I currently work in the Toddler Room, but I have experience working in all three of the rooms. I have a passion for nurturing young minds and creating engaging and educational environments for the children to thrive and reach their potential.

It is an honour to see all these children grow, learn, and develop. I enjoy being a part of their learning journey and being a part of the team of people I work with – who are the best!
