Green Influencers

Before we were blue, we were green. In the way that the Blue Influencer project focuses on waterways and coastal environments, our Green Influencer scheme encouraged 10 to-14-year-olds across Hull to create meaningful connections with their natural environment and implement positive, long-lasting change in their communities. During the scheme, young people took environmental action including fundraising, campaigning, supporting peers, and volunteering.

Erasmus

Erasmus, or to give it its full title ‘The Erasmus+ Program: Young Citizens for Change’, was a program that saw nine individuals aged 12-18 embark on an exploration into climate action, examining the way it impacts both sea and land. Throughout the program, by sharing messages and knowledge, they learned how they could help inspire change in their community. The most exciting part was the collaboration with other young people across the country and beyond. They connected with students from Spain, Germany and Norway during student mobility events, as well as taking part in workshops in Valencia, Spain, and Bremerhaven, Germany.

Their inquiry also saw them discovering climate impacts closer to home – visiting the Project Seagrass Nursery in Wales, partnering with The Deep aquarium in Hull to undertake a digital takeover to share key messages around ocean conservation, conducting beach cleans at Spurn Point, and developing an interactive Nature Trail with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust which was installed in a local park in the city.

Music

The Future Music Collective (FMC) was a project which ran for two years in youth centres across East Hull. The aim was to introduce young people to contemporary music technology and improve local music provision in the local area. The first of its kind in East Hull, it involved a partnership between Child Dynamix and DJ Methodz DJ Academy. One amazing piece of work to happen was the Plastic Citizens project, in which young people wrote and recorded a fantastic and thought-provoking rap about plastic pollution as well as creating their own animated music video facilitated by My Pockets.
