Child Dynamix celebrated a major new development for the venue, the resurfacing of the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) from an old tarmac base to a modern Polymeric Astroturf surface. The new surface has made the MUGA useable in all weathers and has a soft landing rubber base, with the addition of quality steel football goals it is now competitive with other local facilities. The Muga has lines marked for football, netball, basketball, tennis for a multiuse purpose which will attract new customers to hire it.
The improvements have been made possible by Clarion Futures match funding and the Sport England Facilities Fund, with support from Child Dynamix via a consultation exercise with local residents.
The MUGA Launch event took place on August 10th and was a huge success, with over 80 people in attendance, including children, young people and families on what was very blustery damp summers day!
We provided sports activities on the MUGA and on the field alongside some indoor activities, throughout the event we had Paul (our Lead Youth and Community Worker) on the DJ decks outside with Kareoki which was very popular with the kids.
We had a lads and Dads football match with an official referee in attendance and a rugby ball kicking competition for the young people,
A football tournament on the MUGA for the kids, Kwik Cricket games, basketball shooting challenge, mini tennis games, dodgeball matches.
All in all, it was a great day with most of the kids winning medals and taking part in sport activities
