Super Sitters - A better babysitting initiative
Super Sitters aims to give young people the skills and knowledge to enable them to become better babysitters by raising awareness of risks and to promote safe practice and confidence when babysitting. Young people completing the project will achieve NOCN accreditation or a Youth Development Award.
Due to its continued success the Super Sitters initiative will soon be available to local authorities and schools to purchase as a package to deliver in their individual settings.
Here is what the external verifier for the NOCN awarding body had to say about Super Sitters.
“My memory is of photos of happy children performing the tasks and their often sensitive feedback; that the value of the course is spread by word of mouth says such a lot about the need for it too. Perhaps above all is the Super Sitters steering group which has allowed learners to develop above and beyond the achievement of accreditation. This is a unique and, sadly, much needed provision in Hull which I would like to think will lay the foundations for these children to become better parents, to be more aware of what they need to know and properly understand to be good parents, in addition to helping to safeguard the children currently left in their care. “ Super Sitters is funded by the NHS. Child Dynamix recently won runner up for service improvement NHS regional awards for Supper Sitters.
